The Sundarbans


Sundarban is the world’s largest mangrove forest. It is famous for the Royal Bengal Tiger, there are about 400 Royal Bengal Tiger in this forest. You can also find beautiful spotted deer in this forest as well as crocodiles, varieties of birds , monkey and many other wild animals. Sundari tree a type of mangrove that is extensively found here. The main place of Sundarban is Harbaria, Katka, Kachikhali, Hiron point. The main attraction of Sundarbans are wildlife photography including photography of the famous Royal Bengal Tiger. Here you will enjoy wildlife viewing, nature study, meeting fishermen, wood-cutters and honey-collectors as well as peace and tranquility in the wilderness. Every year thousands of locals and foreigners come to Bangladesh to visit this unique mangrove forest and they enjoy its dazzling beauty very much.

How to get there

Direct bus service is available between Dhaka and Khulna. It may takes 7-8 hours to reach Khulna. After get reach at Khulna you have to go Mongla, You can get to Mongla by bus within 3 hours. From Mongla you have to hire a small engine boat or launches to get Sundarbans. It take 2-3 hours to get “Harbaria Ecotourism Center”. Usually it takes 6 to 10 hours journey by launch from Mongla to Hiron Point or Katka.

National Museum

National Museum is the biggest museum in Bangladesh and one of the largest museums in South Asia. It has several departments like archaeology, classical, decorative and contemporary art, history, natural history, ethnography and world civilization of displays. It has a rich collection of paintings, old coins, metal images, world famous embroidered quilts (Nakshi kantha) and much more. You can also find valuable articles of the heroic liberation war here. The Museum is noted for its collection of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin and works of other contemporary artists. The massive four storey building has not only a large exhibition halls, but also conservatory laboratory, library, three auditoriums, photographic gallery, temporary exhibition hall and an audio-visual division.

The National Parliament House

The National Parliament House or ‘Jatiyo Sangshad Bhaban’ is located in capital Dhaka with area of 208 acres. It was designed by Louis Kahn and made of concrete and marble showing a rich blend of ancient and modern architecture. Use of different geometrical shape and floating outlook are some different attractions of this glorious creation. You can visit only surroundings and lakes of the Parliament as it is not open for all.

How to get there

It will be better if you can hire a rickshaw and go around it. The best time to visit is obviously in the daytime but you can come at night here also.

National Martyrs’ Memorial


National Martyrs’ Memorial is a monument in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh it is known as “Jatiyo Sriti Shoudho”. It is the symbol of the valour and the sacrifice of those killed in the Bangladesh libaration war of 1971. It is built with Concrete, but made of blood. It stands 150 feet tall, but every martyr it stands for stands so much taller. It is an achievement the dimensions of which can be measured but it stands for an achievement which is immeasurable. The monument is located in Savar, about 35km north-west from Dhaka.

How to get there

You can go to Savar from Dhaka city by local Bus service or Taxi / CNG.

Dhakeshwari National Temple


Dhakeshwari National Temple is a famous Hindu temple in Dhaka. It is the national Temple of Bangladesh. The name “Dhakeshwari” means “Goddess of Dhaka”. This Temple has assumed status as the most important Hindu place of worship in Bangladesh. It was built in the 12th century by Ballal Sen, but its architecture has been changed because of numerous repairs, renovations and rebuilding in its long years of existence. But still it is an attractive heritage place. This temple is a hub of socio-cultural as well as religious activity. Each year, the largest celebration of Durga Puja in Dhaka is held at this National Temple. Janmashthami procession event also start from here in each year.

From any part of Dhaka city one can reach there by local transports. By bus, can reach up to Ajimpur then hire a rickshaw.

Lalbagh Fort

Lalbagh fort is a Mughal palace. It is one of the greatest heritage site of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was built in 1678 A.D. by Muhammad Azam Shah and continued the work by his successor Nawab Shaista Khan. It has a huge area and many hidden passages. The fort has three important ancient buildings, Pari Bibir Mazar, Darbar Hall and a Mosque. Memorial of Pari Bibi was designed by marbles, two fount and different types of flora. Three domed Mosque shows the beauty of Mughal Architecture.Now there is a museum for the visitors to have the opportunity to see the ancient things used by the Nawab Shaista khan, paintings, furniture as well as weapons used in wars at Mughal period. Everyday many people come here to enjoy this beautiful and historical fort.

Ahsan Manzil



Ahsan Manzil is an attractive tourist spot in Dhaka. It is one of the most meaningful architectural heritage of Bangladesh. It is situated in Old Dhaka on the bank of the river Buriganga. The area is called Kumartuli in Islampur. Here you you’ll enjoy the feeling of the lifestyle of the Nawabs of Dhaka. The pink palace was actually built by Nawab Sir Abdul Gani in 1872, and was reconstructed after the tornado of 1888. Now it has been established as a museum. People have the opportunity to visit the museum and here you will find some historical and archeological things.It has 23 galleries displaying portraits, furniture and other objects used by the Nawab.

You can visit Ahsan Manzil very easily through rickshaw and public transport with minimum cost of 30 BDT from Motijheel in Dhaka. it’s just few minutes of distance apart from the Jagannath University. Opening Time 10.30 am and Closing Time 5.30pm
